Here are the Hogans in New Hampshire. It was such a treat to work with such a great family. They made having four kids look easy!

Today's the Regatta!

Each year Boston/Cambridge hosts a giant regatta for boats coming from all over. It has gotten so huge they have to hold it over two days. If you're going anywhere near the river today, you will likely see lots of action. The regatta is called The Head of The Charles

In honor of one of our coolest local events, I'm going to post some of my most recent nautical photo sessions.

It's pretty awesome to live near such a cool river. In fact I may or may not have named a child after it. ;)

I had my second brush with the LAW on Beacon Hill. The first was a parking ticket while I was in my car!! The most recent wasn't really with the law, but with a woman who thought she was the law! Apparently my most favorite Beacon Hill street (and a favorite of lots of photogs) is PRIVATE! That means no stopping or else you are trespassing. Who knew? Luckily I snagged some shots before we were chastised.

Beautiful is all I keep thinking when I look at these photos. Aren't their outfits great?

I hate to say it, but baby it's cold outside! I love that this family brought me to another side of our area that I drive by, but have never explored. Wow. There are so many cool places in Massachusetts. Talk about variety. We had some great little troopers as we braved the cold in this session. once the mittens were on and we got to having fun, cute shots were flying all over the place. I just love the natural images I got with these guys.

All I can say is little boys crack me up! Especially when you get two brothers or best buds together. There is just so much movement and action. I had fun going through the photos of this session. You can really see the relationship between the brothers in these. Aren't they cute little buddies? After we finished the session, their wrestle match was on! I'm so glad I got a chance to capture all their moments. Such a great family. Photogenic too (big plus!)

We took a little field trip up north to New Hampshire for a photo session in the country. It was a race to beat the sunset. Up in the northeast it starts getting dark at 4 pm. Sad right? Makes for a long winter I tell ya! We took these portraits at a charming horse stable. It was quite a special experience. I have to keep wiping the goofy grin off my face when I look around at all that open land that I'm not used to seeing. So great to get out of the city for the day. we had a blast guys!

I think this is the first time we had a kid who was almost too obedient! We would say, "look up" and he'd look up as high as he could. "Move a little this way", he'd take tiny baby steps. What a DOLL!

This was my very first time doing portraits on the BEAUTIFUL campus of MIT. We did this particular session on the quad of grass where students have their graduation ceremony. Sometimes the best spot for a family picture is in your own neighborhood. As we get closer to winter, our weeks start getting rainy and cold. The Ancer family wanted to be close to home so this little gal didn't have to be out in the cold long. I think they made a decision to their advantage. I just love how great these turned out. I really like how the colors gave such a classic look with the vintage washes. Another gorgeous family in gorgeous Cambridge. :)

We just got our first shipment of holiday cards in. I was stunned by how gorgeous they turned out! I had Kirstin over for a consultation and we changed a few things. We used a different card interior to go with this card exterior since she really wanted to use a large version of this landscape oriented family picture. Let me know if you want to do anything similar.

Sorry I didn't get the best photo of the cards. I took these pics when we had over 20 people at my house! Look how great the quality of the cards are, though!

The Turleys 2010

One of the best compliments to a photographer is a satisfied return customer. The Turleys and I spent an hour at the 'Transportation Park" east Cambridge. ... You've gotta consider running this race. I can't imagine being in the situation of this family. My heart goes out to them. I just ran my first 10K on Monday and I want to tell everyone what an awesome experience it was. I was super out of shape when I started training. Zero exercise for over a year. Then I started slow, running around the block till I increased my lung capacity and it took a month and I started to feel almost invincible! Now that I've done one race, I'm dying to do another to see if I can get a faster time. Spread the word about this race. Such a GREAT cause.

We learned many things in this photo session:

1) mosquitoes are still around, even though it's FALL! (I guess they didn't get the memo)

2) A very ominous abandoned parking lot off the freeway can make the most CHARMING family photo spot,

3) sometimes getting ready for a photograph can make the BEST photograph.

4) I really love it when a client emails me for styling advice. If you have questions on what to wear, lay them on me! I can show you lots of examples to fit your style needs.

5) I need to replenish my prize bag for the kiddos this fall! Man, every kid deserves a prize after a photo session. I am indebted to these little guys for making my portfolio *sparkle*. ---also, maybe I should make a prize bag for husbands? :)

I love the Charles River in the summer. It is gorgeous in the fall too, but in the summer at sunset, I couldn't be more proud of where I live. Everything is sparkly and glowing. We usually get a little relief from the humidity as the sun is going down. That helps. For this session we were going for a look that screams summer time. We nailed it. Don't Mess With the Han's!

This was a unique photo session for me. My first athletic shoot. The mom of these amazing kids was unhappy with the stuffy studio photos she had gotten through their Tae kwon do Association. She wanted something more fun. Something to capture the passion her kids had for the sport. She also wanted action! Sandy, your wish was my command! :) I think we captured all of those things, don't you?? It was fun to play around with my ISO due to movement instead of just adjusting for lighting. These kids are awesome. Thanks for a fun, fun afternoon.
